Applying for Graduation
It is the responsibility of all BHK students to ensure they have fulfilled all graduation requirements. Students with questions regarding their graduation status should consult the Undergraduate Advising Centre.
BHK Graduation Program Analysis (Grad Check)
BHK students may request a preliminary review of their program. Students who wish to have their program reviewed should first complete a program planning sheet and then request a “Grad Check” at the Undergraduate Advising Centre prior to the commencement of the final term of study. Although the School of Human Kinetics is not required by the University to evaluate graduation status prior to submission of the application to graduate, the Undergraduate Advising Centre will make every effort, pending available time and resources, to complete the reviews.
The Registrar will mail a graduation package to all registered 4th Year students in the month of January for May and November graduates. Once the forms in the package have been completed they must be returned to the Office of the Registrar located in Brock Hall. Do not submit these documents to the School of Human Kinetics. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the Registrar’s Office has an updated, current address on file. Once the application deadline has passed, the Registrar will forward a compiled list of graduating candidates to the Undergraduate Advising Centre. At this time it is the responsibility of the School of Human Kinetics to verify that all degree requirements have (or have not) been met and to forward the results to the Registrar.
Students wishing to graduate in May must submit their completed application forms prior to February 1st; students wishing to graduate in November must submit their completed application forms prior to August 15th. You can apply online at www.students.ubc.ca, log on to student services, at the bottom of the list on the left hand side there is a tab that says “graduation”, click on it, and follow the step-by-step instructions. (Note: The above dates are subject to change. Confirm application dates with the Registrar’s Office.) Students who have not received notification of their graduation status two weeks prior to graduation should contact the Undergraduate Advising Centre at 604-822-4512 or the Graduation Secretary of the Registrar’s Office at 604-822-4455. Students whose graduation has been denied by the School must complete all outstanding requirements and re-apply with the Registrar for future graduation ceremonies.
Graduation Photos
Each year the HKUS subsidizes the graduate photo composite, which is then displayed at convocation and in the hall in War Memorial Gym. For information regarding graduation photos, contact the HKUS @ 604-822-6175.
Graduation Ceremonies
Convocation ceremonies are held in The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in May and November. For information regarding the ceremonies contact the Ceremonies Office at 604-822-2484. |
